The patience of a sailor

It's early September, and we're looking back on two unexpected months here in Laboe. What should have been a short stop has become a necessary break. The local German is even starting to trickle in on the boat.

Thankfully, the engine work is finally finished! It feels like a huge step forward.

However, the conversion of the exhaust system is a bit more complex. This system, the true culprit of all our problems, requires a bit more patience. Fortunately, the yard here takes its business very seriously and only installs parts that meet all regulations. As it should be, of course, but that does mean we have to wait for specific parts to be delivered.
The new forecast is that we can get back on the water at the end of next week.
To make good use of the waiting time, we asked a diver to clean the propeller. After two months in the harbor, it looked more like an underwater jungle than a ship's component. This certainly doesn't improve its handling!
Meanwhile, we're also preparing for the new work season. Erna starts again in October, and I'm working on my own book about my life philosophy. More on that later, because it deserves its own website.
Fortunately, the weather gods have been kind to us these past few weeks. It's quiet and pleasant here. That makes the wait much more bearable. This gives us plenty of time for an aperitif on deck, or at our favorite spot, Slomo Beach.

Sailing plans are on hold for a while, but the adventure continues, albeit at a different pace. With the patience of a sailor, we await the day we can cast off and leave Laboe behind. A sailor's patience, as it turns out, is an indispensable quality.
